September and early October are some of the best weeks of the year for an outdoor treasure hunt. It’s cooler than August, the streets are quieter once the summer visitors have gone, and there’s still daylight after lunch to play with. Our GPS hunts, like The Ultimate, Urban Explorer and The Amazing Chase, run for two hours on your team’s phones, in teams of 4 to 6, and start from £15 per person.
The thing to plan around is the light. In 2026 the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, and by mid-November it’s dark before half past four across most of the UK. For a hunt later in the season, check the sunset time for your location and date, then work back two hours for the hunt plus a buffer. In London in mid-November, with sunset at about 4:10pm, that means starting by about 1:45pm. Or pick Pub Explorer, which moves between local pubs, so there’s always somewhere warm nearby.
British autumn weather doesn’t always play along. If the forecast looks bad, our weatherproof guarantee lets you swap an outdoor activity for Level Up, our most popular indoor game, with 24 hours’ notice and at no extra cost. If it starts raining halfway through, your host can unlock indoor tasks so teams can carry on from a café or back at the venue. It doesn’t cover self-managed events, and it depends on your venue having the space.
If you’d rather not think about the weather at all, book something indoors from the start. Team Quiz: Let’s Get Quizzical runs for 75 minutes in the office, online or hybrid, and Escape: Arctic Survival is a 60 or 90 minute escape game that works in person or on video from five players. There’s more in our indoor and virtual team building activities.
From mid-October, a lot of autumn events take on a Halloween theme. Halloween Hunt and Escape: The Dark Curse are two-hour outdoor games full of spooky clues. Murder on the Train is a 90-minute murder mystery from five players, in the office or online, and the Virtual Scavenger Hunt: Halloween Edition takes 45 minutes on a video call.
Halloween is a Saturday this year, so Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October are the obvious dates for a work event, and they’re the ones that go first. The full range is on our Halloween team building page, and our Halloween office party ideas cover the rest of the day.
By November most organisers have one eye on December. If a Christmas event is on your list, it’s worth booking it at the same time as anything in autumn. Most teams book their Christmas activity between late September and mid-November, and the Thursday and Friday slots in the two weeks before Christmas go first. Our Christmas team building activities have the festive range, and our guide to winter activities for adults has more ideas for the colder months.
Most of our activities start from £12 per person, and GPS treasure hunts from £15 per person. A Remote Host is £250, or an Onsite Host £750 for in-person events, and some shorter games, like the 45-minute virtual Halloween hunt, include the host with a minimum spend of £240. Teams play in groups of 4 to 6. Most in-person activities take up to 750 players and virtual ones up to 300, and every activity page shows the full price for your group size. Want to get outside? Our outdoor team building activities cover the whole year, not just autumn.

Our weatherproof guarantee lets you swap an outdoor activity for Level Up, our most popular indoor game, with 24 hours’ notice and at no extra cost. If the rain arrives mid-game, your host can unlock indoor tasks so teams can carry on under cover. It doesn’t apply to self-managed events, and your venue needs room for the indoor game.
Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, so Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October are the busy dates. Book those by early October if you want a hosted event. For Christmas, most teams book between late September and mid-November, and the Thursday and Friday slots in the fortnight before Christmas go first. See our Christmas team building activities for the festive range.
It depends on the month. September and early October suit an outdoor GPS treasure hunt, since the weather’s usually kind and there’s daylight into the evening. Once the clocks go back, indoor and virtual games like a team quiz or an escape game are easier to plan. From mid-October, most teams go for something with a Halloween theme.
Our GPS treasure hunts last two hours, so check the sunset time for your location and date, then work back two hours plus a buffer of about 20 to 30 minutes. In September that still leaves room for a late afternoon start. In 2026 the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, and sunset comes much earlier from then on. In London in mid-November the sun sets at about 4:10pm, so start by about 1:45pm. Further north it gets dark sooner, so start earlier.
