Looking for a team day that gets people out of the office and genuinely engaged? Wildgoose team building activities in Leeds combine problem-solving, collaboration and friendly competition in one of Yorkshire’s most energetic cities. Using our interactive Mobile Adventures app, teams explore Leeds through GPS-triggered challenges, photo tasks and creative missions designed to get everyone involved.
A treasure hunt in Leeds can start at the station, a city centre hotel or your own office, and the route can link up the Victorian arcades with the canalside around Granary Wharf. It’s a compact centre, so teams spend their time on the challenges rather than walking between them.
From the Victorian arcades and independent bars of the city centre to the waterfront around Granary Wharf and the vibrant culture of Headingley, Leeds gives teams plenty to discover along the way. Compact, easy to navigate and packed with character, it’s an ideal location for a memorable corporate event.
Leeds may have once been famous for Jelly Tots, M&S and even roaming hippos thousands of years ago, but today it’s better known for its thriving food scene, creative culture and welcoming atmosphere, making it a brilliant setting for team building activities and treasure hunts.
Our Leeds treasure hunts and team building activities are designed to be simple to organise and easy for everyone to take part in.
On the day, your group will meet at a chosen starting point in the city centre or nearby venue. After a short briefing from our team, participants download the Mobile Adventures app onto their smartphones and split into smaller teams. Once the game begins, teams navigate between GPS hotspots completing challenges, solving clues and tackling creative photo and video tasks.
The experience is designed to encourage communication, collaboration and quick thinking while giving teams the chance to explore the city in a more interactive way. Some groups choose to focus on competition and strategy, while others use the activity as a more relaxed way to connect and discover Leeds together.
Events can be adapted to suit different timings, group sizes and locations across the city. Whether you’re organising a conference breakout session, company away day or social team event, Leeds offers plenty of routes and neighbourhoods to build your activity around.
All participants need is a fully charged smartphone, comfortable footwear and a willingness to get involved.
Leeds offers the right balance of accessibility, atmosphere and variety for corporate events. The city centre is compact enough to explore on foot, but diverse enough to keep teams engaged throughout the activity.
Teams can move between historic arcades, modern shopping districts, canalside walkways and independent neighbourhoods without spending time travelling between locations. That makes Leeds particularly effective for GPS treasure hunts and outdoor team challenges where movement, exploration and interaction are part of the experience.
The city also works well for mixed groups. Whether your team prefers street food and coffee spots, cultural landmarks, craft beer venues or scenic waterfront spaces, Leeds gives everyone something to connect with during the day.
Popular areas for team activities include:
Because the city itself becomes part of the game, teams stay engaged naturally as they move through different locations, complete challenges and uncover hidden corners of Leeds together.
Wildgoose activities in Leeds can be adapted for a wide range of corporate events and group sizes. Whether you’re planning a small team social or a large-scale company event, our format allows teams to play at their own pace while staying connected through shared objectives and live scoring.
Activities work particularly well for:

Not all the time. Mobile Adventures is a secure, native app, and the whole activity downloads to your Team Captain’s phone before you start (Wi-Fi is easiest for this). Everything is stored on the phone, so the activity keeps working when signal comes and goes. With a basic data connection you’ll get the most out of it: your photos and videos reach our host as you go, and you’ll get live messages and bonus tasks. If you lose signal, keep playing. Everything uploads once you’re back on data.
No, the beauty of all our activities is that they can are played from your own smartphone.
Almost anywhere, yes. Our GPS games are most often played in city centres, larger towns, or the grounds of a hotel or venue, and they work in any location where the route is safe with good paths and walkways.
We run outdoor team building activities across a wide range of locations, including several areas of London, but the same game runs just as well around your own office or in a nearby park. Just tell us where when you book. One thing worth knowing: Urban Explorer needs a town or city centre, because its photo and video challenges rely on landmarks and shops being close by. For a smaller town, hotel grounds or a venue like a theme park, we would point you at one of our other GPS games instead.
We always recommend choosing one of our hosting options to create a high-energy experience for your team. However, we also offer a selection of self-managed team activities too.
You play outdoors on your own smartphones, guided by GPS. Teams set off from a start point you choose, and as each team reaches a GPS hotspot the app unlocks the next clue, puzzle or challenge.
One of our hosts briefs everyone at the start, stays on hand throughout to support teams and keep the energy up, then wraps up with the results at the end. Remote hosting comes as standard, and an onsite host can join your group in person instead for an additional fee. There is no equipment for us to deliver and nothing to install on site, which is why an outdoor escape game can be booked with as little as 24 hours’ notice.
Tell us what you have in mind and our team will help you plan the perfect event.
