The Brief

Rachel Davis, Events Specialist at Blue River PetCare, was planning a scavenger hunt team building activity for around 150 colleagues in Chicago. Blue River PetCare had worked with Wildgoose before, but with a booking of this size Rachel needed to bring her own leadership team up to speed before committing. In order to get the team building activity signed off, Wildgoose needed to:

  • Demonstrate how easy the Mobile Adventures app is to use, and showcase how gameplay would actually work for a group of 150 people
  • Explain how having a remote host would work in practice — particularly how teams would get support or tech help if they got stuck during the game
  • Build custom branding and questions into the activity to make it as tailored as possible for the client
  • Deliver photos, videos, and a scoreboard fast enough to share with the whole team at a wrap-up party right after the game ended

The Solution: Urban Explorer

To demonstrate just how simple working with Wildgoose is, the team ran a live demo call for Rachel and her colleagues, walking through the app, the remote host process, and what support would look like on the day.

After securing signoff, Wildgoose delivered an Urban Explorer, our GPS powered outdoor scavenger hunt, mapped to downtown Chicago. The team at Blue River had a location booked for later on in the day, so naturally this became the finishing location for the activity wrap-up.

Following an energizing briefing on the day of the event, the group were split into 30 teams and sent out into downtown Chicago to locate hotspots and complete the tasks and challenges in exchange for points on the leaderboard. With just 90 minutes to score as many points as possible, the activity got extremely competitive — which is just what the client wanted!

The remote host and support staff from Wildgoose were on-hand throughout the challenge to ensure everything ran smoothly and teams stayed on track, whilst packaging up all the photos, videos and live scoreboard to share the moment the activity finished.

The Results

The team building activity was a huge success! All 30 teams had a great time running around Chicago completing tasks, and came away with a library of hilarious photos and videos to not only share at the wrap-up party, but remember the activity for long after the day ended.
